LinkedIn is facing a privacy rights lawsuit after the professional-networking website was accused of using customers' accounts to download contracts in order to further promote it's brand. LinkedIn currently serves three hundred million members. Some users of the social network consented to an initial promotional email but did not agree to the reminder emails sent by LinkedIn after the first one was ignored. A San Jose judge said the endorsement emails sent out from the users' accounts by LinkedIn could impair reputations, citing California's Common Law Right of Publicity.
