Small Business Job Growth Momentum Continues, Dallas Takes Top Spot

The Paychex/IHS Small Business Jobs Index showed the rate of job creation seen in September was consistent through October and is still in a position of strength. Paychex CEO, Martin Mucci, tells TheStreet’s Jill Malandrino growth is primarily being seen in the Central U.S., both north and south, while the coasts remain not as strong. Mucci says energy jobs pushed Dallas into the top spot once again, while Seattle saw growth in hi-tech. The overall strength, however, is really central. The northeast, New Jersey in particular, just can’t seem to get the growth going and the job losses coming from Atlantic City casino closures really hurt. Miami is hot in the real estate market, and Mucci explains Florida is not seeing top growth rates but some areas are doing really well.
