Small Business Job Growth Kicks Off 2015 on an Upswing: Paychex/IHS Index

The Paychex/IHS Small Business Jobs Index grew 0.09% in January, representing the strongest one-month gain since the national index peaked in April 2014. Martin Mucci, CEO of Paychex, tells TheStreet's Jill Malandrino its encouraging to see small business start on a positive note and expects it to be a positive trend for 2015. The index analyzes same-store, year-over-year worker count changes to identify and track small business employment trends. Indiana was a surprise, surging to the number one state index, while Dallas holds its position as the top metro index. Boston and New York City are trending lower and New Jersey remains the lowest ranked state in the index.
