Siemens Bids $4.5B for Mentor Graphics

The industrial giant will reportedly be paying $37.25 a share for the tech company.

Siemens (SIEGY) plans to buy Mentor Graphics (MENT) for $4.5 billion as part of the industrial giant's plan to expand its reach in industrial software , the company said Monday. Siemens plans to purchase the Oregon-based company for $37.25 a share in cash -- more than a 20% premium over Friday's closing price. Mentor makes software for designing semiconductors, offering automation software ranging from integrated circuit and system-on-chip design for automotive electronics as companies continue to scramble for a piece of the self-driving car market.
