Should Amazon Spin-Off Its $100 Billion Cloud Business?

Some investors want Amazon (AMZN) - Get Report to spin-off its cloud business, Amazon Web Services, which is reportedly worth over $100 billion. 'I think that there's a strong argument for spinning it off,' said Chris Nolter, a senior writer with The Deal. 'The business makes up a small amount of Amazon's top line, but it accounted for more than half of the operating income in first quarter.' Nolter said the company's move last year to star breaking out Amazon Web Services' revenue in its earnings reports shows how the company is trying to provide more clarity about the division.
