Senior U.S. Diplomat in China Quits Over Trump's Climate Policy
David Rank, a senior U.S. diplomat in Beijing, has quit over Trump's withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord. The charge d'affaires of the U.S. embassy in China, who had been serving as the Acting Ambassador, resigned his role on Monday. Rank had previously served as Director of the State Department's Office of Afghanistan Affairs.
Donald Trump's pick for U.S. ambassador to Beijing is due to begin his role later this month.
The State Department confirmed his resignation but did not comment on the reasons behind his decision.
