Senator Mike Lee: I Want to Get Rid of the Corporate Tax Rate
Utah Senator Mike Lee (R) has some ideas on tax reform.
Forget the 15% corporate tax rate President Trump is calling for. Lee wants to get rid of the corporate tax rate altogether.
"I made some suggestions earlier this year talking about getting rid of the tax rate altogether and making up the difference with the way in which we treat dividends and capital gains," he said in an interview with TheStreet.
When asked if he wants to tax hedge fund managers and investors more, Lee said: "If you got rid of the corporate tax - I think that would make a lot of sense to go in that direction and I think it would also make up for some of the lost revenue if you took that approach."
Lee also said that tax reform needs to occur in 2017. Lee is the author of the new book Written Out of History: The Forgotten Founders Who Fought Big Government.
