Senate Republicans Revise Obamacare Repeal Bill to Win Over Critics
Senate Republicans have updated the Graham-Cassidy healthcare bill in an attempt to win over critics ahead of the legislative agenda on 30th September.
Over the weekend, Senator Ted Cruz joined Senator John McCain, Senator Rand Paul and Senator Lisa Murkowski in opposing the bill and suggested that Senator Mike Lee also opposed it.
The revised version appears to have been specifically targeted at the states that are home to the key swing votes which are needed to get the legislation through the Senate before Saturday. In particular, the updated bill contains provisions which will increase federal funding for Alaska, Arizona and Kentucky.
After September 30th, Republicans will need 60 votes, not 50, to pass legislation gutting Obamacare.]
