Senate Democrats Delaying Votes on Two Trump Cabinet Picks
Senate Democrats have stalled votes on some of President Trump's cabinet picks. They blocked two of Trump's Cabinet picks by boycotting the vote. No votes were taken for Trump's Treasury Secretary nominee, Steven Mnuchin, and his nominee for Health and Human Services, Republican Congressman Tom Price of Georgia. Senators Sherrod Brown and Ron Wyden, both Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee, boycotted the meeting at which votes were scheduled. Without them, there was no quorum, and no votes could be cast. Republicans blasted their boycott. Meantime, another Senate committee did approve Trump's pick for Education Secretary, Betsy DeVos. The vote was 12-11 along party lines. That nomination now goes to the full Senate. Meantime, the Senate Judiciary Committee had a heated debate over Senator Jeff Session's nomination as Attorney General, ahead of a scheduled vote Wednesday.
