Stocks were back to selling off at Thursday's opening bell. The number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits last week dropped to a 14 year low. The Labor Department says initial jobless claims for the week ending October 11 were 264,000 versus the estimated 290,000. The number of people continuing to receive benefits rose by 7,000 in the week ending October 4 to 2.39 million. Industrial production in the U.S. was up 1% in September, that's better than expectations and the biggest gain in nearly two years. Amazon (AMZN) is adding 80,000 seasonal workers for the holiday season. That's 14% more than last year's hiring. Apple (AAPL) is holding an event at its headquarters today. It's widely expected to unveil new versions of its iPad and Mac computers.
