Samsung (SSNLF) is expected to announce an investigation into the Galaxy Note 7 at a press conference on Monday, Jan. 23. Reports indicated that odd-sized batteries caused overheating and fires, which in some cases led to phones exploding. The faults ultimately killed the company's flagship smartphone, leading to a recall of 2.5 million phones. The faults and eventual recall cost the company more than $5 billion.

This news comes amid an ongoing investigation by South Korean authorities into bribery and corruption, with CEO Jay Y. Lee having already been questioned by police for 22 hours straight.
