Samsung Confirms Oversized Batteries Led to Galaxy Note 7 Recall
Samsung discussed the faults of its now-recalled flagship phone, the Galaxy Note 7.
Samsung (SSNLF) confirmed battery defects were responsible for the recall of the Galaxy Note 7. The company has reportedly put procedures in place to avoid a similar fiasco in the future.
"The lessons of this incident are deeply reflected in our culture and process," said Koh Dong-Jin, president of Samsung's mobile communications.
The internal investigation found odd-sized batteries caused overheating and fires. It also ruled out software or hardware faults. The faults killed the company's flagship smartphone, with the recall costing Samsung more than $6 billion.
