Same Day Delivery Service: Amazon Prime Now vs. Google Express
With so many people talking about express delivery services -- where you can place an order in the morning and receive the items within hours, TheStreet wanted to know -- do they really work? Both Amazon (AMZN) Prime Now and Google Express (GOOGL) offer same-day service in different locations across the country. We had one of our reporters test which service could deliver gifts for her friend’s birthday to the job by 5:00 p.m. and before the birthday dinner the same night. At 9:05 a.m. the race began. First up was Google Express, whose service have been around New York City since May 2014. We ordered cupcakes and an iPhone armband as gifts. Express was easy to use, but had a long delivery window from 8:00 a.m. to 10 p.m. -- 14 hours. That's not good if you need something quick. The order was completed at 9:12 a.m. Next up, was Amazon Prime Now. It's hard to know which products were available for the same-day service online, so we tried the mobile app instead. On the Prime Now app, it was much easier to see what was available for the service. We ordered the same items, cupcakes and an iPhone armband. See how the two services stacked up against each other.
