Shares of salesforce.com (CRM) - Get Report are lower in Friday's trading session after Fortune reported that the company's CEO Marc Benioff considered an investment in Pivotal. Pivotal is the EMV-VMware spinout behind Cloud Foundry, which is a technology that businesses use to create and deploy new software efficiently. But, Fortune noted that salesforce already owns two Cloud Foundry competitors, Force.com and Heroku. An investment deal between Benioff and Pivotal never materialized.
