Russia Reeling, China Winning from 'Putin's Kleptocracy' Says Author

China is reaping the rewards of sweetheart energy deals as a result of Vladimir Putin's destruction of the Russian economy, said Karen Dawisha, author of 'Putin's Kleptocracy'. Dawisha added that Putin's decision to go into Crimea and Ukraine are purely an attempt to steal the Russian public's attention away from the country's sputtering economy and looting by the oligarchs. She said that the heads of the country's oil and gas companies will not stop supporting Putin even if their stocks and the ruble continue to crumble. Finally, she said President Obama's sanctions are the correct response to Putin's aggression.
