Microsoft (MSFT) - Get Report says it will end production on its once popular Kinect motion-sensing camera.

Kinect was first announced at E3 in 2009 as "Project Natal."

The Kinect reached a Guinness World Record as the fastest-selling gaming peripheral in 2011.

In 2013, Kinect sales reportedly surpassed 24 million units.

Not all game developers bought into the technology and recently, the XBOX team has been deemphasizing Kinect.

Kinect will live on... Some of the tech powering Kinect is being used in Microsoft's newer products like the Hololens.
