Despite higher rates, dividend investing was fruitful in 2013 with a record number of dividend payments by S&P 500 Index companies. Todd Rosenbluth, S&P Capital IQ director of mutual fund & ETF research, says 2014 will be another big year for companies to return capital to shareholders as corporate earnings increase with a stronger economy. Among his favorite ETFs to play the trend are the Schwab US Dividend ETF, the Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF and the iShares High Dividend ETF.
