Real Winners and Losers of FCC Voting in Favor of Net Neutrality
With the FCC expected to vote in favor of applying Title II of the Communications Act for net neutrality on Thursday, classifying the Internet as a public utility, the real winners and losers of the new rules might surprise you. While one might think Internet service providers like Verizon, Comcast, Time Warner Cable and others who have long argued against such rules stand to lose, they could fare better than expected. If the new rules allow for more emerging companies to operate online, that would help to grow the Internet -- giving Internet service providers even more business. One of the surefire winners of the new rules is expected to be the consumer, as consumers will be more protected from Internet service providers obstructing what they can do online.
