Cybersecurity is front and center this morning after two developments over the weekend. Apple Mac users were targeted with ransomware for the first time. Ransomware hacks into a computer and steals data and charges 'ransom' to the owner to get that data back. Apple says it has fixed the problem. Meanwhile, Krebs on Security reports that Seagate Technology was the victim of a phishing scam that exposed all of the company employees W2 tax information. Stocks are hoping for a 4th straight week of gains. The major U.S. indexes start the week at nearly two month highs and have almost erased all of the losses from January. The European Central Bank meets later this week and some market watchers think it may approve more stimulus. Bloomberg is reporting that Germany's BASF is considering making a bid for DuPont (DD). A bid for DuPont would throw a wrench into the DuPont merger with Dow Chemical. Dow and DuPont plan to merge before breaking up into 3 companies focused on agriculture, materials and 'specialty' areas like nutrition and health. BASF declined to comment.
