Time Warner's (TWX) third quarter results were no joking matter, as superhero movie "Suicide Squad" boosted Time Warner's quarterly profit and revenue. Shares of the company, which owns HBO, CNN, Cartoon Network and the Warner Bros film studio, were in focus on Wednesday. Earnings of $1.83 a share handily topped estimates. Revenue of $7.17 billion for the period also beat forecasts. Revenue from Warner Bros jumped nearly 7% for the third quarter, while revenue from the company's HBO unit rose more than 4%. Suicide Squad has grossed $324.7 million, according to Box Office Mojo. The financial results come less than two weeks after AT&T (T) - Get Report said it would buy Time Warner for $85.4 billion. The deal must still be approved by regulators.
