The harsh winter weather hurt lemonade and limeade sales because distributors could not get product, and chilly Americans were less inclined to drink iced beverages, says Robert Yates, CEO of Pulse Beverage Corporation. Yates expects sales to heat up along with the weather, especially for the company's coconut water which he says is a hot product. He says Pulse has 147 distributors in 5 countries for its beverages now and expects to be in 200 by the end of 2014. Finally, Yates admits that Coke and Pepsi are tough competitors in the non-carbonated drink arena, however, he says that creative marketing goes a long way to winning shelf space.
