President Donald Trump Threatens to Shut Down the Government to Get Border Wall Funds

Speaking at a rally in Phoenix, Trump said "If we have to close down our government, we're building that wall"

President Donald Trump has threatened to shut down the government in order to secure funding for his proposed border wall.

Speaking at a rally in Phoenix, Trump said "If we have to close down our government, we're building that wall."

The government will shut down if the President does not sign a funding deal into law by September 30th. That means Trump could trigger a shut down by vetoing any budget passed by Congress that does not include funding for the border wall.
