Premier CEO: New Apple HealthKit System a Step in Right 'Connection'

Apple's new HealthKit body monitoring system is another step in the right direction of accelerating the movement of health data across platforms, said Susan DeVore, CEO of Premier. DeVore added that Premier connects an alliance of more than 3,000 U.S. hospitals and approximately 110,000 healthcare providers, yet it does not currently have a relationship with Apple, which may come later down the road. DeVore stated that network security remains paramount in the wake of credit card breaches. Finally, she maintained that Obamacare has given Premier the opportunity to boost its business as hospitals seek to boost best practices for providers and patients.
