Pepsi (PEP) - Get Report is adding back the controversial sweetener aspartame to its diet sodas. This comes less than a year after removing the ingredient, which led to plunging sales of Diet Pepsi, as consumers complained about its poor taste. Diet Pepsi volume fell 10.6 percent in first quarter, compared to a 5.7 percent drop in Diet Coke, a brand of The Coca-Cola Company (KO) - Get Report , which included the aspartame substance in the soda, according to Beverage Digest.
