Shares of Panera (PNRA) were up slightly Wednesday on news that the company will get rid of the remaining artificial flavors, sweeteners and preservatives in its Panera at Home products. The company expects the entire portfolio of nearly 50 grocery items to be free of its so-called NO LIST additives by the end of 2016. Some of the Panera at Home products include refrigerated soup, mac and cheese, pasta, sliced sandwich bread and coffee.. among others. The director of Wellness and Food Policy at Panera says the company decided early on to use refrigeration to help extend shelf life for some products such as their soups and salad dressing, adding that when necessary Panera had relied on natural preservatives such as rosemary extract to help preserve the taste.
