Order Up! Check Out the Robot That Could Soon Be Flipping Your Favorite Burger
Have your burger with a side of AI? The greasiest part of your favorite fast meal could be about to get a little more automated.
Miso Robotics Inc. recently unveiled "Flippy," the world's first autonomous robotic kitchen assistant, is joining the staff of CaliBurger in Pasadena, California. Flippy is capable of flipping burger patties and removing them from the grill.
Does this mean your neighborhood fry cook could be out of a job? Not necessarily.
Miso has stressed that Flippy is designed to work with human workers rather than replacing them. The robot still requires human hands to place the patties on the grill and finish off the burger with toppings and the like. "Anyone who's ever worked in a restaurant knows how hard the work is and the value of extra hands and that's exactly what we built," Miso CEO David Zito said in a press release.
As tech continues to advance, this probably won't be the last time a robot makes its way into your local burger joint. It's your move McDonald's (MCD) - Get Report .
