Nancy Tengler, CIO of ButcherJoseph Asset Management, talked to TheStreet about the state of the markets and whether or not now is the time to pick your stocks.

Tengler breaks it down. 

"Stock correlations in recent years have been pretty highly correlated, and that was due to the fact that the [Federal Reserve] was easing. And, so, you could be a passive manager and not worry about out-performance. You got great performance," said Tengler. "We saw the stock correlation's decouple a couple of years ago so we believe it is a stock picker's market. We are active managers and we run very concentrated portfolios."
