The U.S. added 245,000 non-farm payrolls in November according to the latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The unemployment rate fell to 6.7% with 10.7 million people unemployed. Though the rate of unemployment has trended down, it remains 3.2% higher than it was at the onset of the pandemic in February.
Here are some of the sectors that added jobs in November:
- Transportation & Warehousing: +145,000 jobs
- Professional & Business Services: +60,000 jobs
- Healthcare: +46,000 jobs
- Construction: +27,000 jobs
Meanwhile, retail lost 35,000 jobs, signaling less seasonal hiring amid the coronavirus pandemic.
