Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCLH) - Get Report CEO Frank Del Rio was at the New York Stock Exchange Tuesday to ring the opening bell in celebration of the launch of the company's newest vessel, the Norwegian Encore.

The double-decker ship weighs 170,000 tons, features a 1,100 foot long race track, and features a virtual reality and augmented reality room for guests. The ship just left the ship yard in Germany and arrived in the Hudson river in New York City this week.

"This ship Encore will be back in the spring to bring New Yorkers and people around the Tristate area down to Bermuda for a week. So it's a great way to vacation. The cruise industry is growing like a weed and we're growing alongside it," Del Rio told TheStreet.

Europe has been on of the company's success stories, despite a tight economic environment across the Atlantic as the economies of Germany and Italy slow and the U.K. deals with the fallout from its Brexit vote.

"Well, Europe, by the way, as a destination is alive and well. A lot Americans want to go to Europe. In fact, people from around the world want to go to Europe," Del Rio said. "But our business is up in the last seven months, 43% sourcing Europeans that go on Europe cruises primarily because of our unique go to market strategy or free at sea."
