1901, in Seattle Washington, Klondike gold miner John Nordstrom opens a shoe store called Wallin & Nordstrom.

John Nordstrom eventually sells his share to his sons who change the name to Nordstrom's.  The company grows to also sell apparel and opens 46 full-line department stores from 1978 to 1995.
