No Space For Millennials? Increasing Numbers Miss Out on Jobs
New research from JP Morgan shows that decreasing numbers of young people are managing to secure summer internships and entry level jobs.
Millennials are having a tough time in the jobs market. New research from JP Morgan shows that decreasing numbers of young people are managing to secure summer internships and entry level jobs. Only 26 percent of young adults in the U.S. held any type of paid job in 2011 and there has been a nearly 40 percent decline in summer youth employment over the past 12 years. An increasingly competitive jobs market and heightened employer expectations mean it is essential for young people to obtain early work experience but why are so many failing to get accepted into internship programs? Amelia Martyn-Hemphill discusses the trend with Chauncy Lennon, Head of Workforce Initiatives for JP Morgan Chase.
