NJ Devils, Prudential Center Score a Hat Trick: Fan Experience, 3D, Local Economic Impact
The Prudential Center, home of the New Jersey Devils, underwent a major restructuring just over a year ago and the Devils 2014-15 season tickets sales are the strongest in decades. Hugh Weber, President of Operations for the New Jersey Devils, tells TheStreet’s Jill Malandrino the Pru Center is now positioned for growth by changing the culture and capitalizing on resources and talent. The customer experience and fostering long-term relationships with the fan base is what sets the New Jersey Devils franchise apart. The franchise is the first hockey team in the United States to invest in on-ice 3D video presentation technology. Weber sees the Pru Center and the Devils as economic drivers for Newark and the region. Local partnerships are key and Weber is bullish on all of the growth the organization sees in Newark. The Pru center is also dedicated to taking the local talent base and developing and promoting them from within. In terms of growth in the sport of hockey, Weber believes content is everything and hockey is fitting the needs of this generation and is well positioned for expanding the fan base.
