Nissan is hoping to make inroads in the competitive truck market in the U.S. with the introduction of the TITAN Crew Cab half-ton model pickup. 'If we're going to play in this segment and if we're going to be serious about it, this is not for the faint of heart,' said Fred Diaz, Vice President and General Manager of North America Trucks at Nissan. 'You need to go big and really invest in in the product. And certainly we have done that.' Diaz expects the new TITAN will be the highest volume truck in the Nissan lineup once it hits dealer showrooms this summer. It will compete against trucks that include Ford's (F) F-150, which has consistently been the top selling vehicle in the U.S. Nissan unveiled the truck at the New York International Auto Show on Thursday.
