Demand for workout gear this summer helped Nike. Profit for the past quarter came in at $1.09 a share, easily beating expectations. Revenue grew 15% to just under $8 billion, also better than estimates. CEO Mark Parker said, 'Fiscal year 2015 is off to a strong start. Nike has never been better positioned to realize our tremendous growth potential.' Nike recently cut its ties with NFL player Adrian Peterson, who has been accused of child abuse. The sponsor decided to step away also because the league faced criticism itself for its stance on domestic violence issues.
