Piper Kerman never dreamed when she wrote her story "Orange Is the New Black" that it would become a media sensation after it was picked up for a TV series by Netflix. She was approached by Weeds creator Jenji Cohen to turn the book into a TV show. Only Netflix offered Cohen creative freedom and the ability to release complete seasons. The show generated more viewers in its first week than other Netflix original programming, including "House of Cards." The show has been renewed for two more seasons, even before season number two aired. Piper's husband Larry Smith joins her as they talk to TheStreet's Debra Borchardt about the experience.
