The National Basketball Association has renewed TV contracts with Time Warner's Turner Broadcasting and Walt Disney for nine years. The basketball games will continue to air on ESPN, ABC and TNT through the 2024-25 season. The new extended contracts reportedly inked more than twice the fees compared to the contracts currently in place. Disney and Time Warner now pay $485 million and $445 million a year respectively for the broadcasting rights to the games. Disney airs 75 regular season games and up to 29 playoffs. Time Warner broadcasts 52 regular season games and as many as 52 playoffs. The NBA and ESPN are discussing the possibility of live streaming regular season games online for basketball fans who don't have cable or satellite TV, according to the Wall Street Journal. NBA commissioner Adam Silver is expected to announce the new deal on Monday and give more details. The new NBA season opens on October 28.
