NBA Pro Carmelo Anthony Is a Hero on and off the Court to Harlem Families

Carmelo Anthony and his foundation, along with Avon, have partnered with Feed the Children to provide 800 families living in Harlem with food and essentials. The distribution took place on November 11 at the Manhattan Mathematics and Science Center. Each family received a 25-pound box of food and 10-pound box of personal care items. Even though New York is considered one of the most prosperous places in the world, nearly 20% of families live below the poverty line. Melo tells TheStreet’s Jill Malandrino this is something he was always obligated to do, going back to the inner cities and helping people in need. While feeding 800 families is a lot of work, Melo says you don’t think about anything else but how impactful you can be.
