Trump's trade war with China is weighing on the confidence on the National Association of Business Economics, according to a survey published Monday.
Four out of five of the economists surveyed in September see an increased risk of recession,, according to a September survey, which is up from the 60% who felt the same way when the the survey was taken earlier this year.
Additionally, the majority of those surveyed, 60%, do not believe that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates one more time this year.
Only 7% of survey respondents believe that the recession will hit the U.S. this year, with another 24% believe that it will occur by the middle of 2020.
The Trump administration is scheduled to begin trade talks with Chinese officials on October 10.
