Morning Market Stir: The Dow Leads the Bounceback Heading into the FOMC Rate Decision
Equity futures are holding their gains.
Thursday, September 18 – Alan Knuckman reports from the floor of the CME Group in Chicago, where equity futures continued to bounce yesterday following the Fed announcement. The S&P E-Mini futures closed just above unchanged at 1,995, with the Dow up 15 at 17,069, and the Nasdaq ending the day at 4,067. The dollar surged in the afternoon, breaking above the 84.5 level and knocking the Euro down to 1.2925. Bonds slid to 135’30, crude lost 6 cents to 94.47, and gold dropped to ,1236. This morning, equity futures are holding their gains and pushing higher, with the dollar up, the Euro down, and bonds selling off. Crude is hanging around near yesterday’s close, while gold is getting hit hard falling below 1,225.
