Morning Market Stir: The Dow Leads the Bounceback Heading into the FOMC Rate Decision
Futures markets are largely unchanged
Alan Knuckman reports from the floor of the CME Group in Chicago, where equity futures bounced yesterday following Monday’s sell off. The S&P hit Monday’s lows before reversing higher and closing strongly at 1,991.5. The Dow is almost at new highs for the year after finishing at 17,054, while the Nasdaq closed at 4,058. The dollar pulled back a bit to 84.23, with the Euro up at 1.2969. Bonds were steady at 136’01. Crude made a big move yesterday, up $2 to 94.90 as it looks to make a bottom. Gold was up slightly at 1,237. This morning, futures markets are largely unchanged across the board as market participants hesitantly await the Fed’s announcement this afternoon.
