Friday, August 29 – Alan Knuckman reports from the floor of the CME Group in Chicago where the indexes are quiet this morning. Yesterday, the S&P closed unchanged after testing 1,987, finishing at 1996. The Dow ended the day at 17,077, and the Nasdaq closed at 4,070. The dollar was firm, closing at 82.52, with the Euro falling to 1.3185. Bonds were strong again heading to 141’23, making new lows in yields. Crude looks like it may be trying to find a bottom, and closed up at 94.55, with gold up to 1,290. Equities made new highs in the premarket this morning, with the dollar and Euro not doing much. Bonds are down a bit but hanging in there, with crude trying to break 95, and gold testing 1,285.
