Morning Market Stir: Selling Continues on Monday, Will it Subside Soon?

Equity markets continue to be weak as dollar holds above 85

Tuesday, October 14 – Alan Knuckman reports from the floor of the CME Group in Chicago, where equities looked to be firming up throughout the day on Monday until a final hour sell off took us down to new lows. The S&P closed at 1,865.5, the Dow at 16,232, and Nasdaq finished at 3,798.5. The dollar pulled back slightly allowing the Euro to rise to 1.2671. Bonds continued higher to 142'01. Crude steadied at 85.75, and gold made another move to the upside at 1,230 as it tries to confirm a bottom from around the 1,200 level. Equities are up this morning, the dollar is up and pushing the Euro lower, and treasuries continue powering higher. Crude is lower and gold is up slightly after yesterday's strong move.
