Thursday, October 23 – Alan Knuckman reports from the floor of the CME Group in Chicago where stock indexes saw some unwinding late in the day Wednesday. The S&P finished at 1,925, the Dow at 16,425, and the Nasdaq backed down to 3,949. The dollar gained to 85.85, with the Euro falling to 1.2648. Bonds were steady, slightly dropping to 142’13. Crude moved hard, falling to 80.52. Gold pulled back as the dollar surged, closing at 1,246. This morning, equities are strong and retaking yesterday’s losses. Currencies are mostly unchanged, while bonds are pulling back some more. Crude is holding, while gold falls.
