In the Morning Market stir for Tuesday, August 5, Alan Knuckman discusses Monday’s snapback which regained Friday’s losses in the major indices. The S&P closed at 1,932, up .7%. The Dow Jones Industrials closed at 16,486,up .4%. The Nasdaq closed at 3,897, up .75%. Currencies were quiet, with the dollar closing up 3 ticks at 81.40, Euro closing down at 134.21. Bonds showed very little action as well, up to 138.03. Crude closed the day up .40 at 98.30. Gold stayed below $1,300 per ounce closing at 1289. Futures are down this morning, with the S&P at 1925 (-.39%), DJ at 16,436 (-.28%), and Nasdaq at 3,882 (-.36%). Treasuries are unchanged. Crude is trading up at 98.50, and gold is at 1,292.
