Morning Market Stir: Equity Bulls Fight Back to Recover Losses on Monday

Friday, September 19 – Alan Knuckman reports from the floor of the CME Group in Chicago, where equity futures opened lower but reversed to finish the day near Friday’s close. The S&P E-Mini futures closed at 1,969.5, with the Dow at 16,980, and the Nasdaq at 4,035.5. The dollar made new multi-year highs, moving as high as 85.93 before closing lower at 85.72. The Euro finished at 1.2700 after making new relative lows. Bonds finished higher at 138’10. Crude oil continued its move higher after basing around the $90 level, closing at 94.57. Gold remains contained, closing at 1,219. This morning, equities are up, with the dollar making big gains, pushing the Euro lower. Bonds are pulling back, with crude near yesterday’s closed and gold heading lower toward the $1,200 level.
