Morning Market Stir: Equities Hit New Highs But Fail to Hold

Markets close the week with equities at new highs and crude at new lows

Friday, November 14 – Alan Knuckman reports from the floor of the CME Group in Chicago where stock markets attempted to make new highs on Thursday, before closing mixed. The S&P closed down 2 points at 2,034, with a wide intraday range. The Dow was up to 17,596. The Nasdaq got as high as 4,227 before closing at 4,205. The dollar pulled back to 87.75, allowing the Euro to push to 1.2490. Bonds closed at 141'08. Crude hit new multi-year lows, closing at 74.20. Gold hung around at 1,161. This morning, equities are largely unchanged. The dollar is breaking out to new highs, now above the 88 level, putting more pressure on the Euro to hit new lows. Bonds continue to go nowhere. Crude is holding firm, while gold is breaking lower.
