The latest Hunger Games film fell short of its predecessors after tepid reviews knocked ticket sales. The movie's absence from higher priced Imax screens also dented its U.S release figures. Mockingjay - Part 1 only took an estimated $123 million at the box office over the weekend in Canada and the U.S. The two prior films in the series raked in over $150 million. Mockingjay - Part 1 scored the largest domestic opening of 2014 and took $275 million dollars worldwide. But concerns about domestic performance knocked shares of California-based studio Lionsgate last week. Analysts are suggesting that weakness in the domestic market could still be made up over seas and that bad weather may also have kept movie goers indoors this weekend.
