MLB Issues a Coronavirus Memo: Here’s What’s In It
The MLB has established an internal task force to contend with coronavirus threats, according to ESPN.
The league issued a memo on Sunday to hundreds of baseball officials offering suggestions for teams. The memo includes tips like not taking pens or balls directly from fans for autographs and avoiding shaking hands with fans.
It also suggests that players get the 2019-20 flu vaccine.
However, the league currently has no plans to cancel spring training or regular season games.
Worldwide, over 92,000 people have been infected by the coronavirus. More than 3,100 people have died, the vast majority of them in China. At least 70 countries have been hit by the virus, with Ukraine and Morocco reporting their first cases this week.
The coronavirus is impacting sporting events across the world, including soccer games in Italy. Many players are being instructed to use fist bumps instead of handshakes when greeting fans.
