Millennials are conservative like their grandparents when it comes to planning their financial futures, yet youthfully optimistic as well, said Chantel Bonneau, Millennial Advisor for Northwestern Mutual. According to the 2015 Northwestern Mutual Planning & Progress Study, millennials are conservative, risk-averse, and realistic about setting goals and taking responsibility. Meanwhile, the study suggests they exhibit all the telltale signs of youth like being optimistic that their financial situation is improving. For example, 59% of millennials expect their financial situation to improve this year, compared to only 41% of the general public. Furthermore, 71% of millennials report feeling secure that they will achieve the financial goals they have set for themselves.
