In this month's Trading Strategies session, our panelists discussed everything from tax reform, to deregulation to how the market will react with the midterm elections coming up.

Sponsored by Charles Schwab (SCHW) , the roundtable was moderated by David Callaway, CEO and President of TheStreet, Inc. and included:

  • Tony Dwyer, chief market strategist, Canaccord Genuity;
  • Mona Mahajan, U.S. investment strategist, Allianz Global Investors;
  • Ann Miletti, managing director and lead portfolio manager, Wells Fargo Asset Management;
  • Bob Lang, columnist, TheStreet's Real Money premium Web site and co-manager of TheStreet's Trifecta Stocks model portfolio.

The panelists' also latest gave picks for the best sectors and stocks to put your money in.

But in this clip above, they talked about how the midterms and the current fed tightening cycle would affect the market.

And while there are a lot of unknowns, stocks generally do go up, during all this, says Mahajan. "The corollary there though is volatility also goes up."

Dwyer opines as well but bottom line is this: "Even the year after a fed tightening cycle ends, you get a positive return," said Mahajan.

Watch the video above to hear why.
